Somatic Experiencing: Reconnect with Your Body
Somatic experiencing is a healing practice that helps you tune into your body’s felt experience. Many of our deepest wounds and traumas reside within our bodies. When we feel triggered or experience sensations like knots in our stomach or heaviness in our chest, these are signals that something within us needs to be witnessed, validated, and released.
Rather than suppressing these uncomfortable sensations and emotions, which often intensifies them, somatic experiencing invites you to explore, accept, and make space for them. By getting curious about what message these sensations hold, you can release them through powerful practices like sound healing, movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness.
During this 90-minute service, we will talk about what is coming up for you, hold a small cacao ceremony to call on the medicine of cacao to assist in the process, and move through an embodiment practice. There will also be time to integrate the experience, allowing you to fully absorb and process the healing work.
In our modern, disembodied culture, we often disconnect from our bodies, numbing ourselves with media and distractions. This disconnection can lead to feelings of dissociation, stress, and depression. Somatic experiencing brings you back to your body, helping you feel more grounded, present, and connected.
Embodiment practices are a key to living a balanced, healthy life. They allow you to feel your body’s sensations without overanalyzing them, moving away from the constant chatter of the mind and simply being present in your experience.
